I am the kind of person who looks up which national day it is each morning. On March 3rd, I came across triple negative breast cancer day. I had no idea what triple negative breast cancer was at the time but it sparked my interest. After researching TNBC, I was motivated to do whatever I could to aid the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation in the search for a cure. Thus, the Bracelets for Breast Cancer initiative was established. I set the price at four dollars per bracelet and started selling. I purchased beads, string, and charms and began working on making bracelets. I was amazed at how quickly the orders were coming in. Countless people bought bracelets and donated money. With the help of my friend, Emma Goldberg, I had raised over five hundred dollars in a matter of two months. After hearing about my fundraiser, another friend of mine, Abby Wasserman, was inspired to contribute to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation as well. Right away, Abby purchased all of the necessary supplies and got to work. Together, we continued to sell our bracelets. We posted our bracelets on our Instagram page and received numerous direct messages asking how to purchase and donate. Within three more weeks, we began receiving international requests. With our Instagram orders, supporters told us all about their hardships while conquering triple negative breast cancer. We heard from many TNBC survivors, patients, and people whose families and friends were heavily impacted by this disease. Throughout our experience, Abby and I were further inspired by their stories. Currently, we have raised over a thousand dollars and counting. In the future, we plan to collaborate with our community in an effort to raise as much money as possible.
There are various ways to support our cause. Primarily, you can purchase a bracelet. It may seem like such a small price to pay but, every penny counts. In addition, you can donate money to the foundation itself or to our fundraiser. To help promote our cause, you can spread the word to others or repost the flyers posted on our Instagram page. Lastly, by simply educating yourself and others about triple negative breast cancer, you can raise awareness for this fatal disease.
