I have always been interested in coding and innovative enterprises. I wanted to take this passion and focus to inspire disadvantaged youth. Change4Good foundation provided me with ideas and resources to carry out my vision. In 2018, I started my own impact project. I worked with my town to organize and lead a coding workshop at my local library.
During Covid, when in-person activities were halted, I continued to hold weekly sessions and got an idea to raise the bar by creating a Semesterly Coding Project Competition. The kids’ projects were so impressive, and I recognized their talents at an awards ceremony via Zoom.
To keep the students inspired, I added a special summer session. I look forward to continuing this volunteer work in-person in the fall, when life hopefully resumes to a new normal. Online was a great way to continue working with thes kids but I can’t wait to reconnect with my students in-person again!
