Some time good things come to those who wait!
It’s hard to think that I’m excited about receiving a letter from the IRS, but I am. As of September 7, 2018, our application to be a registered 501(c)(3) has been accepted. We are now an official foundation.
What does that mean? And why should you care?
* Having this letter should make it easier for companies to donate to our listed events. Companies get to donate to our causes and we are able to offer them a tax deduction for supporting us. If you would like to work on an event with us and get involved click here
* We can now apply for grants
* Now that we are recognized as an official charity, we can talk to the press about doing public service announcements for our events and hopefully get them to list it for free.
We want to thank our legal team at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP for all of their work on our behalf. They took the time to educate us on the process and walking us through all this. We couldn’t have it done it without Pamela Landman and Michaelle Yeo.
